FAQ

Do I have to forward email?

No. The 1 DOGE plan only links your @paymedoge.com name to a Dogecoin address. Forwarding is the 20 DOGE plan.

How do wallets find my address?

They resolve your PayMeDoge email with normal DNS. No PayMeDoge account or API key is required. The wallet must then check DNSSEC (the AD flag) before it unlocks the address. If that seal is missing, it must stop and not pay.

How does a wallet know the name is real?

Encryption hides the Dogecoin address. It does not prove the note came from us. A wallet or app must check DNSSEC first: ask a validating resolver and require the AD flag. If that seal is missing or broken, it must stop. Do not decrypt. Do not pay.

Who can change or remove my name?

Only you, by signing a short message with the Dogecoin wallet that holds the address on that name. Paying the name does not prove you own it. Anyone can send the Dogecoin. Without those keys nobody can change the record or take it down. Not your keys, not your change. The only automatic removal is if you do not pay the renew: we remind you, then pause the name, then about 30 days after expiry we release it and delete the DNS note.

Can I pay from another wallet?

Yes. Anyone can send Dogecoin to the pay address. That keeps the name live. It does not let them edit it. To change or close the name you must sign a message with the Dogecoin wallet you registered.

What happens if I do not renew?

About 7 days before the end we send a reminder. When the paid period ends the name is due. After 7 more days it is paused. After 30 days from expiry the name is released and the DNS record is removed. Nobody else can delete it early.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes, on the Domain plan. Add a TXT like SPF: v=pmd1;include=you@paymedoge.com at _pmd on your domain.

Why is a name reserved?

Some names are reserved so they cannot be abused: people and brands (for example Elon Musk or Satoshi Nakamoto), crypto, payments, support, invoicing, and the foundation. If you have a real reason to use one, write through the contact form and explain why. We only release a reserved name after we review that request.
